Helm Crag | Lake District

Only a short but steep climb from Grasmere village, Helm Crag is one of the smaller Wainwrights. Known for its unique summit, often referred to as the "Lion and the Lamb" because of the shape of the rocks, the climb offers some of the best views in the Lake District.

We started from the village of Grasmere, where the walk begins with a gentle ascent through woodlands and fields dotted with sheep. As we made our way up, the path became a bit steeper, but the occasional pause to take in the views of Grasmere Lake and the surrounding hills kept us motivated. Once you reach the summit, you get a bird’s-eye view of Grasmere and the surrounding fells.
