Brough Castle

Brough Castle

We stopped at Brough Castle on our way to the Lake District on a rainy autumn day. The weather wasn't the best, but there was nobody else at the ruins, so we had the place entirely to ourselves.

The castle dates back to the 12th century and sits overlooking the surrounding countryside. The trees had turned beautiful shades of autumn colour, which stood out against the old stone ruins.

By the time we left, the sun had come out, so we decided to have a wander around the town of Brough before continuing our journey to the Lakes.
