Pickering Castle

Pickering Castle at Sunset

I've been to Pickering a number of times, but I'd never actually visited Pickering Castle before.

We stopped there on our way home, although by the time we arrived, it was getting late, so we only had a quick look around. The castle dates back to the 13th century and sits on the edge of the North York Moors.

Although we didn't have long to explore, the late afternoon light was beautiful. The golden sunshine catching the autumn leaves made the castle look even more atmospheric, and I think the photographs benefited from arriving when we did.
