Photos from the Lake District

I'd booked a trip to the Lake District in September, hoping to avoid the summer crowds and the warmer weather. It ended up being one of the hottest days of the year, and Grasmere was very busy, so we decided to escape onto the lake in a rowing boat.

The blue sky made for some beautiful reflections on the water, and we were joined by several cormorants as we rowed around. It was much more peaceful out on the lake.

Later, we stopped at Skelwith Bridge to see Skelwith Force before walking towards Elterwater. The water was still, creating some lovely reflections. I also spotted a heron standing on one leg, which meant I had to stop and photograph him.

We finished the day by watching the sun set over Lake Windermere.
