Runswick Bay

Changing Light at Runswick Bay

When we arrived at Runswick Bay, grey clouds hung overhead and rain swept across the beach. For a while, it seemed as though the weather might never improve. But as we wandered along the shoreline, the clouds slowly began to break, and before long the sun emerged.

The cliffs around the bay looked even more dramatic with the changing light, and the sandy beach was almost empty, making it feel like we had the place to ourselves. As we wandered along the shore, watching the waves roll in, a cormorant surfaced nearby, pausing just long enough to look around before disappearing beneath the water once again.
