Lowther Castle in Spring
We stopped off at Lowther Castle on our way to the Lake District. The gardens were full of spring flowers and blossom, but my favourite sight was a long row of daffodils stretching towards the castle.
While wandering around the grounds and ruins, I also spotted some herons perched high up in their nests in the heronry. They were quite a distance away, but I managed to get some photographs, including one that you can see below.
There were lots of different parts of the gardens to explore, although the rose garden wasn't in bloom yet. I'll have to return another time to see it at its best.
