Another place I visited during my trip to the
Lakes was Coniston, a little village home to the third longest lake in
the Lake District (Coniston Water) and Coniston Old Man. The Old Man of Coniston
is a mountain that reaches over 800m. We were going to climb it whilst we were
here, but with it having rained and the hills being shrouded in mist, we didn’t
think the views from the top would be that good – so that’s a trip for another
day.
While walking round the lake, we came across Coniston
Hall, owned by the National Trust, but sadly not open to visitors. The
hall is a grade II listed building dating back to the 16th century.
