Gisborough Priory

Gisborough Priory was built in 1119 and was in use until the dissolution in 1540. (The town itself is spelt Guisborough whereas the Priory and Hall use the old spelling.) We walked first along the road outside Gisborough Hall where we saw the llamas in the field, and then along the path leading to the priory.

Only really one part of the priory remains standing, but you can get an idea of what it may have looked like in the past, and it still looks impressive today.  Aside from the priory itself, there’s a woodland garden area and a circle of trees surrounds snowdrops and there are little wooden seats (which I’m perched in below.)
