Seals at Tees Barrage

The Tees Barrage is a barrage across the River Tees in Stockton, used to control the flow of the river. It is home to the Tees Barrage International White Water Course, used for canoeing, and also to seals.

You have to be lucky to see them as they’re not always here. Even harder is to try and get a decent picture of them because once they’ve gone back underwater, they can stay hidden for as long as 30 minutes, resurfacing in a completely different part of the river!
