Muker Meadows

Muker is home to some of the best hay meadows in the Yorkshire Dales. Between May and early July, wildflowers, including buttercups, are left to grow in the fields surrounding the village. I visited Muker too late last year, and most of the fields had been cut back, but this time I caught them at their best.

Part of the Pennine Way takes you from the nearby village of Keld just over two miles into Muker, climbing up high overlooking the Dales and then returning through the meadows.
