Summer in the Hay Meadows
For just a few short weeks, fields in the Yorkshire Dales are transformed by wildflowers, including buttercups.
When I visited the previous year, I'd arrived too late. The meadows had already been cut, and although the scenery was still beautiful, I'd missed the wildflower display that I'd hoped to see and photograph. This year, I had timed it perfectly, and the flowers were at their peak, as you can see in the photos.

The meadows are not only beautiful but also provide an important habitat for many species of plants, insects and birds, making them an important part of the Dales' landscape.
It's a scene that reminds me how rewarding it can be to return to the same places throughout the year. The landscape is always changing, and sometimes waiting for the right time makes all the difference.
