High Force

The Power of High Force

There are some landscapes where you can hear them before you see them. High Force is one of those places. As we made our way through the woodland, the roar of rushing water gradually became louder until you could see the waterfall itself, plunging dramatically into the pool below.

Spray filled the air around the falls, while the rocks and surrounding trees framed the scene, creating plenty of different compositions to photograph.

The main area was quite busy when we visited, with lots of people gathered around the waterfall and cameras appearing in every direction. It wasn't quite the peaceful scene I might have imagined, but the scale and power of the falls still made it impossible not to stop and admire them.

Rather than staying in one place, we continued exploring. Away from the main falls, the landscape became much quieter, with different perspectives of the river and waterfall, including Lower Force, revealing themselves as we walked.
