Rosedale

Rosedale is a valley almost in the centre of the North York Moors National Park and is surrounded by moorland.

In the late 19th century, it was used for iron ore extraction. Special kilns were built that can still be seen today. Mining began in 1857, with the mines being served by freight trains from nearby Battersby. Mining stopped in 1928, and the mines were closed a year later.
